Howland rally falls short in District Finals

Howland falls to Nordonia 3-2 in the Division I District Finals.

SOLON, Ohio (WKBN) – Howland stranded the tying run at third in the top of the seventh inning, as the Tigers fell to Nordonia 3-2 in the Division I District Finals Friday afternoon at Solon High School.

Monica Kotyuk and Hannah Kowach each tallied an RBI for the Tigers in the setback.

Howland Pitcher Hannah Burke pitched a complete game with five strikeouts, allowing three runs on the day.

Rachel Vickers went 2-3 with a single, double, and an RBI for the Knights.  Kendall Becker and Hannah Stroe also drove in runs in the victory for Nordonia.

Stroe picked up the win in the circle, tossing a complete game with three strikeouts.

Howland’s season comes to an end with a record of 18-11.

Nordonia improves to 22-6 on the season.  The Knights advance to face Canton Glenoak in the Division I Regional Semifinals Thursday at 5PM at the University of Akron.
