SPRINGFIELD TWP., Ohio (WKBN) – Springfield Township Police arrested a man and a woman Thursday afternoon, charging that they took part in a burglary and endangered two kids by having drugs in their car.
David Coates received charges of burglary, endangering children and possessing drug abuse instruments, while Ciara Bailey received charges of conspiracy, endangering children and possession of drugs.
According to Springfield Police Chief Matthew Mohn and a police report, a caller alerted officers to a disabled car on East South Range Rd. An officer reported that the vehicle was not registered to its driver and, upon searching it, found syringes, which he said belonged to Coates, and oxycodone, which he said belonged to Bailey, according to Mohn.
The officer said that Coates claimed he had the syringes because he had diabetes, according to Mohn.
Mohn also said that the pair had items in their trunk which the officer determined to be taken from a nearby house.
The kids in the car were ages one and three, according to the police report.
