Canfield comeback falls short at Regionals

Jefferson topped Canfield 3-2 in the Division II Regional Semifinals.

AKRON, Ohio (WKBN) – Canfield loaded the bases trailing by a run in the seventh inning, but was unable to score in a 3-2 loss to Jefferson in the Division II Regional Semifinals at Firestone Stadium in Akron.

The Cardinals’ opened the scoring on a wild pitch, which allowed Maura Kennedy to score.  Their only other run came in the seventh inning when Kennedy was hit by a pitch, allowing Jill Baker to score.

Rachel Tinkey went 1-4 in the final game of her high school career.  Canfield Starting Pitcher Allison Fabry allowed two runs on just four hits.

Jefferson’s Alyssa Irons struck out nine, allowing two runs in the complete game victory.

Canfield ends the season with a record of 23-8.

Jefferson improves to 25-3, and advances to face Beaumont School in the Division II Regional Finals Saturday at noon at Firestone Stadium.
