South Range falls to Elyria Catholic

Elyria Catholic Riley Schill rounds the bases after hitting a home run Thursday against South Range.

MASSILLON, OH (WKBN)-Elyria Catholic used a hot start to avoid a comeback from South Range to advance to the D-III Regional Final with a 5-4 win Thursday evening.

South Range’s Caragyn Yanek walked the first batter of the game, then allowed a 2-run home run from Riley Schill to take the 1st inning lead.

The Raiders answered in the bottom half of the frame with a sac fly the cut the lead to 2-1.

But the Panthers came right back in the 2nd, putting three more runs on the board thanks to a South Range error that pushed the lead to 5-1, which was too much for the Raiders.

South Range ends the season with a 21-7 overall record.
