CAMPBELL, Ohio (WKBN) – Police filed charges against a Campbell man Tuesday, saying he left a gun in the open before his seven-year-old nephew shot himself.
Police charged Daniel Prasinos with two misdemeanors Tuesday: Endangering children and failure to secure a dangerous ordinance.
Prasinos appeared in court Tuesday and pleaded not guilty to the charges. Authorities are holding him on $4,000 bond.
St. Elizabeth’s Hospital said that they have released the boy after treatment.
According to police, the boy’s grandfather and Prasinos were working in the yard when they heard a loud bang. They rushed into the home and found the boy bleeding from a gunshot wound.
Prasinos drove his nephew to St. Elizabeth’s Hospital. He told police he had taken his gun out of its holster and left it on a chair in the home before going outside to the garden.
