Austintown junior getting shot at top tier college education

Abi Biroschak of Austintown Fitch High School

AUSTINTOWN, Ohio (WKBN) – A junior at Austintown Fitch High School is heading to Emory University this summer for the chance to receive the education of her dreams.

Abi Biroschak was accepted into the Quest Bridge Scholars Program after scoring a 30 out of 36 on the ACT. Quest Bridge helps connect high-achieving, low-income students with full-ride scholarships to some of the top schools in the country.

“If you work for it and put your heart into it you can go anywhere you want and get the best education possible,” Biroschak said.

Next month, she will have the chance to interview in-person with Ivy League and other top tier schools. The interviews take place at Emory University in Atlanta, but she has to raise $500 to get there.

Her goal is to attend Northwestern or Yale.

Biroschak will be the first person in her family to receive a college education.
