Police investigating Hermitage Wal-Mart fire

HERMITAGE, Pa. (WKBN) – Hermitage Police believe a smoke bomb started a fire Tuesday afternoon at a Wal-Mart store in the city, according to a press release.

Tuesday, just before 5 p.m., Hermitage Police responded to a report of a shoe on fire at Walmart, 1275 N. Hermitage Road.

Upon arrival, the fire had been extinguished by store personnel. Police said that after an initial investigation, they determined that two young males went to the shoe department, where one of them deposited a smoke bomb in a shoe, which caught the shoe and surrounding area on fire.

Hermitage Police continue to investigate the incident but believe that one of the males, a juvenile, has been identified.
