AVON, Ohio — Two girls who were missing from Avon, Ohio for about 24 hours were found safe in Elyria, Ohio.

Police and local FBI investigators were searching for the pair, who went missing Saturday.

Avon police said Sophia Rogers, 2, and Autumn Shreve, 12, disappeared from a Chester Road apartment complex about 4 p.m. Saturday.

Avon Police Lieutenant Keith Haag said that Shreve took Rogers with her and that no one kidnapped the pair. Rogers is with family Monday, while Shreve is in state custody, according to Haag.

Authorities initially believed the pair may have stayed near Avon or traveled to Lorain and that Autumn might have been telling people she was an adult and Sophia was her daughter.
