East High students raise money for boy with leukemia

YOUNGSTOWN, Ohio (WKBN) – A 4-year-old boy battling leukemia was the focus of a community service project for some students at East High School in Youngstown.

The Discovery 3 Afterschool Program held a meet and greet with Landon Fitzgerald-Green on Tuesday at the school. After hearing about his story, students and staff held a dress down day May 29 to raise money to help with medical costs.

The boy’s mother said she is humbled and grateful for the community’s support.

“It has been so nice. He thinks he is a superhero. And everybody, you know, we get in here and they are clapping and he is like ‘what’s going on, mom?’ I am letting him know ‘it is you, Landon. You are the life of the party. You are it. Everyone wants to see you’,” Lisa Fitzgerald-Green said.

During the meet and greet, Landon was signing autographs for the students and staff of East High School for all their help.
