2015 MLB Draft: Indians’ Day One Rewind

Round 1, Pick 17 – Brady Aiken, LHP/IMG Academy
…Chosen by the Astros with the 1st overall pick in last year’s draft, Houston and Aiken could not come to terms on a deal after concerns over his elbow were brought to light. Aiken had Tommy John surgery this past March.

Competitive Balance Round A, Pick 42 – Triston McKenzie, RHP/Royal Palm Beach High School (FL)
…McKenzie hails from the same high school (Royal Palm Beach) as Jarrod Saltamacchia. Triston stands 6’5 and has the ability to throw three in the range of the low 90s. He’s a Vanderbilt recruit.

Round 2, Pick 59 – Juan Hillman, LHP/Olympia High School (FL)
…Hillman’s guardian is former big league closer Tom Gordon (father of the Marlins’ second baseman, Dee)…Olympia High School has produced Mariner infielder Brad Miller in the past. The Central Florida recruit is 6’2 and weighs 183 pounds as he has shown the ability to clock his fastball at 92 miles per hour at such a young age.
