BOARDMAN, Ohio (WKBN)- A Boardman firefighter has been released from the hospital Friday after being injured on a call.

Firefighters responded to a carport on fire at 8260 Southern Blvd just before 4 a.m. Friday.

There were five cars were under the carport at the time, and all of them are a total loss, according to firefighters.

“Our first crews arrived, and it was fully involved,” Boardman Fire Chief Mark Pitzer said. “We did have one minor injury. We had a firefighter with a back injury. He’s fine.”

None of the residents were injured in the fire, and investigators are still working to determine the fire’s cause.
