POLAND, Ohio (WKBN) – A fundraiser will be held in July to honor the life of Mike Hirschbeck.

Mike, son of Major League Baseball umpire John Hirschbeck, died in 2014 of ALD, a rare brain disease.

John and Denise Hirschbeck started the Magic of Michael foundation to honor their son’s memory. The event will be held July 5 at the Lake Club in Poland.

“What we are going to do is try to support and help families in need in the Youngstown area, northeast Ohio that have difficulties, whether they are children with disabilities, or just children in need,” John Hirschbeck said.

The fundraiser includes a sold-out golf outing. There are still tickets for the dinner and auction.
