Mosquito Lake advisory lifted

water quality advisory mosquito lake cortland, ohio signs posted

CORTLAND, Ohio (WKBN) – WKBN first told you yesterday about a water advisory at Mosquito Lake, which the Ohio Department of Natural Resources has lifted Friday.

The state of Ohio said high bacteria levels there could make swimmers sick. But, most people who visited the beach didn’t see the faded signs informing them of the problem.

We asked the Ohio Department of Natural Resources when they’d be replaced, and got results. Friday, they put up new signs to warn swimmers.

However, we’ve learned around 4 p.m. Friday that the advisory has been lifted, as the ODNR has deemed the water’s bacteria levels to be safe.

ODNR will test the bacteria levels again next Thursday, June 18.
