WARREN, Ohio (WKBN) – Friday was a big day for Mason Henline.
Friday, he fulfilled his childhood dream of becoming a police officer.
“It’s everything he’s worked for and wanted since he was a child, and he’s worked really hard to get where he is,” Henline’s mother, Nickole Ladner, said. “Warren Police Department is a very good police department.”
Not only did Mason gain a new job Friday, he also married long-time girlfriend Jessica just moments after he was sworn in as Warren’s newest city police officer.
“We’re special,” Mason said.
“Yeah, it wasn’t planned,” Jessica said. “We had the wedding planned first, then he finally got the call for the job, so it just worked out good.”
“Over the 200 weddings that I’ve done since becoming mayor, I’ve never had the opportunity to swear in a new police officer and marry him, him and his wife within the same hour,” Mayor Doug Franklin said.
“It’s a pretty big day,” Mason said.
“It’s important,” Jessica said. “We’ve been waiting a long time for this.”
“I’m just very, very happy because they’re both wonderful,” Ladner said. “They’ve been together a long time, they deserve everything that comes to them. They both have worked very hard to get where they are.”
