Lowellville police chief quits unexpectedly

LOWELLVILLE, Ohio (WKBN) – The Village of Lowellville is looking for a new police chief.

Mayor James Iudiciani said Tuesday that Chief Ryan Bonacci turned in his resignation in an email last Friday. He has been off the job since then using vacation time.

Officials with Mercy Health confirmed that Bonacci accepted a position with the health system as Manager of Protective Services.

Village Council will discuss Bonnacci’s departure at a meeting later this week and will later appoint an interim chief as they launch a search for a replacement. Bonacci served as chief of the Lowellville force since August of 2013.
