CHESTER, W. Va. (WKBN) – Members of the media got a sneak peek Tuesday at the new smoking pavilion at Mountaineer Casino Racetrack and Resort.
Construction crews are still working on the outdoor gaming area, which officially opens on July 1. That is the day the Hancock County Clean Air Act goes into effect.
The $2 million pavilion will feature 210 slot machines as well as six table games. Casino officials said the casino now will be able to offer guests the best of both worlds.
“We have put some amenities into the room to try and create comfort year round. Radiant heaters that are hopefully going to keep us warmer in winter and large ceiling fans throughout the space to keep us cool and keep the air around during the summer and wind shears to cover up the space when it is really raining or snowing or really windy,” Mountaineer general manager Chris Kern said.
The smoking pavilion will have a separate entrance from the casino, as well as two entrances inside the casino, and pavilion guests will have convenient access to parking.
