Youngstown firefighters save the day for 4-year-old

Youngstown girl gets new bike after accident

YOUNGSTOWN, Ohio (WKBN) – A local family is grateful for the actions of the Youngstown Fire Department.

Rhonda Hill’s daughter De-Asia caught her leg in the metal of her bicycle along West Delason Avenue Monday and was trapped. The Youngstown Fire Department arrived within minutes and the cut the bike away from the 4-year-old’s leg.

She suffered a hairline fracture and her bike was ruined. But firefighters came back that night with a big surprise: A new bike.

“I was stunned. Nobody ever did anything like that for me or my kids. It was a blessing. The Youngstown Fire Department is a blessing,” Hill said.

De-Asia is doing well and recovering from her accident and is anxious to get on her new bicycle.
