Fathers Day program coming to Youngstown

YOUNGSTOWN, Ohio (WKBN) – A National Father’s Day initiative is going to be held in Youngstown on Monday.

On Thursday, representatives from the Department of Housing and Urban Development, the Youngstown Metropolitan Housing Authority, the Community Initiative to Reduce Violence and other agencies met to work out final details of the event. It will be held at the Arlington Heights Recreation Center on the north side from 5 to 8 p.m.

Organizers want to help strengthen and empower families by preparing men for now and the future. They will match dads up with coaches to offer parenting advice.

“No matter where you come from, how much money you have, what is happening in your life, you have a responsibility. If you have a child, you have a responsibility. We are going to help you with the resources to maybe help find employment, maybe get through some hurdles,” C.I.R.V. Director Guy Burney said.

This will be the fifth year for the event.
