FAIRFIELD TOWNSHIP, Ohio (WKBN) – Southern Local High School graduate Marcus K. Walter, 19, of Summitville, died in a head-on collision Thursday afternoon on state Route 164 in Fairfield Township, according to the Ohio State Highway Patrol.

Walter was on his way to Firestone Park in Columbiana for the final practice and team steak fry before Friday’s Penn-Ohio Stateline Football Classic when the crash occurred around 5 p.m., according to the Lisbon Morning Journal.

The patrol said Walter was driving a white Ram 1500 pickup and went left of center, colliding with an oncoming pickup near the intersection of Crestview Road. The second pickup, a red 3500 Ram, was driven by Joshua J. Forney, 28, of Leetonia, who was flown to St. Elizabeth Health Center in Youngstown. His condition is unknown.
