Warren to keep 7 wards after vote

WARREN, Ohio (WKBN) – The effort to reduce the number of Warren City Council ward seats from seven to four was defeated Wednesday night by an 8-1 vote, according to the Tribune Chronicle.

The plan would have divided the city into four wards and kept the three at-large seats for a seven-member city council instead of 10 members, plus a council president.

Councilman John Brown, D-3rd Ward, the ordinance’s sponsor, was the only person to vote for the measure.

Brown said the reason behind the effort was to save the city money.
