Slide the City, weekend events affected by weather

Slide the City will set up a slip and slide in Youngstown, Ohio.

WARREN, Ohio (WKBN) – A Youngstown city employee confirmed that Slide the City, originally scheduled for Saturday, has been cancelled.

Youngstown Director of Downtown Events Michael McGiffin said the city was expecting about 2,000 people for the event. The event was going to feature a 1,000 foot slip-and-slide on the Market Street Bridge and include live music, food and drinks.

Slide the City organizers have not announced a make-up date for the event. Youngstown Events Coordinator Michael McGiffin said that all customers have received or will receive an email from Slide the City on how to get a refund.

A First Energy representative said that they will be keeping a close eye on the forecast and will have crews on standby if they are needed.

Sunrise Entertainment has announced that the River Rock at the Amp concert originally scheduled to be held Saturday will be rescheduled due to the expectation of poor weather conditions.

The event has been rescheduled for Friday, August 28, and will feature all three bands originally scheduled to play at the Amp Saturday: Sam & Gary, Full Moon All-Star Band, and Escape: The Journey Tribute. All show times will remain the same. Any tickets purchased to the June 27 concert will be honored on August 28.

In addition, organizers for the Greater Pennsylvania Super Kids Classic Race told WKBN that their race would be rescheduled for July 5 instead of Saturday. The Super Kids race raises money to support children with disabilities.

Additional events affected by the weather:
Due to inclement weather, the 8th Annual Charity Car Cruise at Ben Bissett Chevrolet, Rt. 19 Mercer, PA  originally scheduled for Sat. June 27, has been postponed until  Wed., July 1, 4pm  – 8pm.   All details will be the same including free car and bike registration.

The fire safety canvassing scheduled to be held in Greenville this Saturday by the American Red Cross and Greenville Professional Firefighters IAFF Local 1976 has been rescheduled to Saturday, July 18.

Boardman Township Park and The U.S. Army Field Band have made the decision to move the June 27th Concert to The Boardman High School Performing Arts Center (7777 Glenwood Ave. Boardman 44512) due to the amount of rain that we are expecting on Saturday.  The concert is scheduled to begin at 8pm.  Fireworks will be cancelled for Saturday evening but will be rescheduled on July 10th following the Air Force Band of Flight Concert.

The movie Saturday night June 27, 2015 at Lynn Playground, 1940 Lynn Ave. in Youngstown, Ohio has been cancelled due to the weather.  Re-scheduling will be determined at a later date.

The first Annual Yoga in the Woods event scheduled for Saturday at Shaker Woods in Columbiana is being rescheduled for Sunday, rain or shine.
