9-year-old boy struck, killed by train in northwest Ohio

MILTON CENTER, Ohio (AP) – Sheriff’s deputies say a 9-year-old boy has died after he was struck by a train while riding his bike in northwest Ohio.

The Wood County Sheriff’s Office says 9-year-old Kaleb Swartz was struck around 8:40 Thursday evening while riding his bike in Milton Center, a small village about 12 miles southwest of Bowling Green. He was struck by a southbound CSX train.

Deputies say the boy was pronounced dead at the scene.

It wasn’t immediately clear how fast the train was traveling or whether the boy was wearing a helmet.
