YOUNGSTOWN, Ohio (WKBN) – The Mahoning County OVI Task Force will be conducting two sobriety checkpoints the weekend of June 26 to June 28.
The task force, working with the Ohio State Highway Patrol, announced Friday that the first checkpoint will be at 4121 South Avenue in Boardman, and will run from 10 p.m. to 12 a.m. The second checkpoint will be at 6809 Market Street in Boardman, and will run from 1 a.m. to 3 a.m.
In addition, police officers from participating agencies of the Mahoning County OVI Task Force will be conducting saturation patrols in various parts of Mahoning County throughout the weekend.
The Ohio State Highway Patrol has said that the number of drunk driving arrests rise during the summer months.
During the checkpoints, police set up at a certain spot and check all drivers who pass through to make sure they are not intoxicated.
