Leetonia balloon launch held in memory of drowning victims

A balloon launch was held in Leetonia in memory of drowning victims.

LEETONIA, Ohio (WKBN) – Hundreds of balloons were released Sunday at Leetonia schools in memory of Todd Vadino, his son Garrett, and Carson Bonar who died on Father’s Day after a kayaking trip.

Todd and his 10-year-old son Garrett died last Sunday in Beaver Creek after being swept away.

Carson Bonar, 14, also died in the accident.

Todd Vadino was a teacher at Salem High School. Garrett was a student at Leetonia, and Carson went to West Branch.

Everyone releasing a balloon was able to tie on a note before it letting go.

All the balloons were donated.
