Scrappers suffer fifth straight loss

The Williamsport Crosscutters remain unbeaten following a 5-2 win over the Mahoning Valley Scrappers Monday evening at Eastwood Field.

NILES, Ohio (WKBN) – The Scrappers suffered a fifth straight loss with a 5-2 setback to the Williamsport Crosscutters Monday evening at Eastwood Field.  The game was delayed more than an hour due to rain.

Mark Mathias tallied two hits and an RBI for Mahoning Valley, while Emmanuel Tapia also drove in a run.

Joshua Tobias tallied two hits including a solo homer on the night.  He finished with two RBI to lead Williamsport offensively.  Gregori Rivero went 2-4 with an RBI in the win.

Kieran Lovegrove (0-1) suffered the loss on the mound, working five innings, allowing three earned runs with two strikeouts.

Mitch Gueller (2-0) tossed six innings, allowing just two earned runs on six hits, with five strikeouts.

Mahoning Valley drops to 3-7 on the season, while Williamsport remains unbeaten at 10-0.  The series concludes Tuesday at night 7PM at Eastwood Field.
