CAMPBELL, Ohio (WKBN) – A Campbell police officer was suspended after he was caught sleeping on the job.
Officer Josh Tedesco was issued a five-day working suspension after he was found to have been sleeping on the job and failing to check residences during his shift.
The suspension is paid, but the action creates a note of suspension in his employee file. Lawyers for the city and the officer worked out the disciplinary agreement where Tedesco admitted to what has been called gross misconduct without having to lose any salary.
According to documents obtained by WKBN 27 First News, the incident occurred March 8, 2015 while Tedesco’s cruiser was parked in Roosevelt Park.
An internal investigation concluded last month determined that Tedesco put himself and others at risk by his behavior and further noted that Tedesco failed to make a check of residences as proven by a lack of footprints in the snow around the houses he was assigned to check.
Tedesco’s employee file contains other violations dating back to February 2014, including tardiness, violation of uniform policy and gross misconduct.
