Crews find body in Pennsylvania river where man went under

MONACA, Pa. (AP) – Crews have found a body in the Ohio River near where a western Pennsylvania was apparently swept away by currents while swimming.

Family and friends say Jason Moore was swimming in the river in Monaca when he went under the water about 8 p.m. Wednesday. The man is in his early 20s.

Beaver County officials did not immediately confirm the identity of the body found late Thursday morning.

Crews were first called to the river by reports that two young men were struggling to stay afloat, but one was able to get out of the water safely.

Recent rains have created stronger currents that are not only dangerous for swimmers but also made the search more difficult.
