BOARDMAN, Ohio (WKBN) – After one of the wettest Junes on record, everyone seems ready for some real summer weather, the kind that lets people get outside and enjoy all the great things the Valley has to offer.
That is exactly the type of day Friday was, with people kicking off their Independence Day weekend by soaking up the sunshine and nice temperatures. Mill Creek Park was brimming with people riding bikes, fishing, boating and golfing.
In McDonald, walking the dogs was a great way to pass the time. And at the YMCA in Boardman, the swimming pool was packed with families, happy to finally be able to get out of the house and play in the water.
“It was a nice day to go swimming and it was a relaxing soothing day and it seems beautiful out, so we decided to come out and swim,” Emily Sheets said.
“Beautiful out for once,” Melissa Marenkovic said. “It is finally warm enough to swim.”
One thing a lot of people said they are worried about is sunburn after not getting much sun earlier in the season.
“We are kind of wondering where the summer is. It has kind of gone from winter to spring and stayed spring,” Amy Donato, who is a teacher, said.
