June auto sales figures show whose sales fell, increased

AUSTINTOWN, Ohio (WKBN) – June auto sales figures were released last week.

WKBN learned that General Motors sales fell three percent while Ford, Fiat and Honda had positive numbers.

Industry wide, sales have increased about four percent from 2014. The types of vehicles being bought are different in 2015.

“I think the economical cars, the small cars, were much more popular a year ago, and my personal opinion is that has been affected by the price of gasoline. Now, so far this year, you’ll see the midsize SUVs have been extremely popular, and trucks are popular in this area as well,” said Steve Chos of the Automobile Dealers Association of Eastern Ohio.
