Dr. Shayesteh talks about foods that help protect our eyes

BOARDMAN, Ohio (WKBN) – Dr. Shayesteh said vitamins and nutrients are essential for healthy vision.

Nutrients such as omega 3 fatty acids, vitamin A, vitamin C, vitamin E, lutein and lycopene are key for healthy vision and prevention of macular degeneration. Foods high in antioxidants such as berries, fresh fruits and vegetables can prevent oxidative damage to the eyes.

He recommends eating a variety of colors in your diet for optimal eye health.
