Festival of the Arts gives Valley economic boost

YOUNGSTOWN, Ohio (WKBN) – This weekend is the 17th annual Summer Festival of the Arts.

Over 75 crafters brought their original art work to the campus for art enthusiasts to buy. The pieces range from jewelry to painting and even beer taps.

The art is not only bringing people to the YSU campus, but also bringing an economic influx to the Mahoning Valley.

“We have all the artists who come in. They buy supplies; they buy lunch and dinner and stay in hotels. It showcases what the arts can do for the community. It allows people to see what original art is,” said Lori Factor, director of the Festival of the Arts.

The Summer Arts Festival runs Sunday from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m.
