SPRINGFIELD TOWNSHIP, Pa. (WKBN) – A man checking his online bank account helped police uncover a credit card fraud totaling more than $26,000.

Pennsylvania State Police said they were contacted June 27 by a man from Bedford, who said he noticed several fraudulent transactions on his account, including a purchase within the past several minutes at Primanti Bros. in Springfield Township. Employees at the restaurant gave troopers a description of the suspects and they were located a short time later at Rachael’s Roadhouse, according to a police report.

The suspects, Gean Carlos Del Valle Barquin, 37, of Doral, Fla., and Jelsy Camejo Escandell, 28, of Miami Beach, Fla., were arrested and police found additional fraudulent credit cards on them, the report states. They were charged with access device fraud, identity theft and operating a corrupt organization.

Police later searched a hotel room at the Holiday Inn Express, where the suspects had been staying for several days, as well as a rental car. Police recovered approximately 118 fraudulent credit cards containing stolen account information and more than $26,000 worth of retail merchandise and retail gift cards suspected to have been purchased using the stolen cards, police said.

The cards were used at Primanti Bros., Rachael’s Roadhouse, the Holiday Inn, numerous stores at Grove City Outlets and multiple department stores in Hermitage, Pa., according to the police report.
