New crosswalk signals up in downtown Youngstown

Crosswalks in downtown Youngstown were replaced.

YOUNGSTOWN, Ohio (WKBN) – Crossing the street in downtown Youngstown may be a little easier and a lot safer now.

New crosswalk signals were installed at two busy intersections near the Mahoning County Courthouse.

Signals were placed at Market and Boardman streets and Market and Front streets.

The old lights were not working for some time and downtown workers complained about the problem.

It took several months for workers to obtain the needed parts and equipment for the signals.

Now that the new lights are up, workers will be checking to see which other signals downtown need replacing.
