Sheriff: Woman killed by suspect in Cleveland-area shooting, rape attempt

PAINESVILLE, Ohio (AP) – Ohio authorities say a man arrested after a shootout with police is a suspect in the fatal shooting of a woman inside her home, the wounding of a woman walking in a park and the attempted rape of a 14-year-old relative at that park.

Authorities say 35-year-old Juan Emmanuel Razo has been charged with attempted murder, saying he shot a 40-year-old woman in the arm Monday as she and her two children walked along a park path in Lake County, about 30 miles east of Cleveland.

Razo is suspected of fatally shooting a 60-year-old woman who lived near the park in Concord Township. Her husband found her body Monday afternoon.

Razo was arrested after exchanging gunfire with police. He has a court hearing Tuesday afternoon.
