Trumbull Jail standoff suspect takes plea deal

WARREN, Ohio (WKBN) – New details in the case of one of the three men involved in a hostage situation at the Trumbull County Jail in April of 2014.

Kevin Johns, 25, took a plea deal Tuesday. A judge sentenced him to 35 years on charges that included kidnapping and possessing a deadly weapon while under detention.

Johns, Richard Ware, and David Martin are all accused of being involved in an uprising at the Trumbull County Jail in which where the three tied sheets around a door handle — locking a corrections officer inside.
