Mixed messages sent to Canfield voters

canfield, ohio voter location cards

CANFIELD, Ohio (WKBN) – Hundreds of voters in Canfield got some confusing voting instructions in the mail.

The Mahoning County Board of Elections had to send out two location cards to 755 township residents because of precinct changes.

At first, the voters were told to go to the Mill Creek MetroParks Farm. But a week later, they were told to go to the St. Michael Church Family Life Center, which is closer.

“They would have gotten the first set probably about two weeks ago, and they would have gotten the next set this week,” Mahoning County Board of Elections Director Joyce Kale-Pesta said. “Just so they were updated on where they should go. So anyone who got two sets, go to St. Michael’s. Do not go to Mill Creek.”

The cards were sent out for Canfield’s special election on Tuesday. Voters there will decide on a proposed half-percent income tax increase.
