Warren woman pleads guilty in child abuse case

Kayla Liller pleaded guilty to child endangering

WARREN, Ohio (WKBN) – A woman charged in a child abuse case in Trumbull County admitted to her involvement on Wednesday.

Kayla Liller entered a guilty plea to two counts of child endangering in Trumbull County Common Pleas Court. Authorities say Liller was with her boyfriend Tedy Mendez when he beat his 4-year-old daughter so badly she suffered a fractured skull, broken elbow, brain bleed and several bruises.

Mendez pleaded guilty to similar charges and was sentenced to seven years in prison earlier this month.

“The goal is to treat them both equally. They both caused harm to this little girl. They both now are guilty of this, so I intend to treat them equally. We will be seeking a similar sentence to what Mr. Mendez received,” Trumbull County Assistant Prosecutor Gabe Wildman said.

Liller is undergoing a pre-sentencing investigation before her court date is set.
