Key Losses: The Red Devils will be without twelve seniors including quarterback Stephan Elash, receiver Edgar Toledo and top rusher Aaron Jackson.
Key Returnees: Junior Yanni Koullias carried the ball a total of 30 times in Campbell’s two victories a year ago rushing for 80 yards and a touchdown. Junior Zion Williams completed 5 of 7 passes in their week ten win over Newton Falls. Sophomore Antowan Tarver returns in the secondary along with senior Isiah Williams to the defensive unit.
Key Storyline: Last year, the Red Devils began the season with seven consecutive losses; however, were victorious in two of their last three games. In their eight losses, Campbell was outscored by an average of 38.3 to 8.0. In their two wins, the Devils held a 23.5 to 15.0 average scoring. With the setbacks which have occurred in the off-season due to graduation, how far has Campbell come since the beginning of last year?
Strengths: Seven of the Red Devils’ games a year ago were against teams who finished with winning records. The team gained invaluable experience from playing against such a difficult slate.
Weaknesses: Without key pieces on offense (Elash, Jackson, Toledo, etc), how will Campbell generate yardage and points from their offensive unit?
Game to Watch: August 28 vs. Lakeview
…Campbell begins year #2 of Ed Rozum’s coaching stint at home against Lakeview. Many onlookers will pay close attention to how this Campbell team has come along throughout the summer. It will be interesting to see if the Red Devils will once again be a prominent figure in the All-American Conference race.
