Fight leads to shooting in Sharon

One man was shot in the leg in Sharon, Pa.

SHARON, Pa. (WKBN) – Sharon police are investigating a shooting that sent one person to the hospital.

Sharon Police Chief Gerald Smith said two men got into an altercation over a female friend just before 6 p.m. Sunday in the area of Quinby Street and Spearman Avenue.

Multiple shots were fired and one person was hit in the leg.

“This is not common down here in the middle of the day like this. It is fortunate that no one else was hit. There are a lot of children out here playing and parents very quickly grabbed their children and got them out of danger, got them in the house,” Smith said. “Police were on the scene within one minute.”

Detectives spent the night collecting evidence and talking with witnesses.

Police are searching for the gunman.

The victim was taken to Saint Elizabeth Health Center.
