Vigil planned for Ohio toddler found decomposing in crib

MEDINA, Ohio (AP) – Parents in northeastern Ohio are planning to host a vigil for a 21-month-old girl whose decomposed body was in her crib in an empty apartment.

The Chronicle-Telegram reports parents in Medina and Brunswick are planning to hold the vigil Sunday evening in Public Square to remember Ember Warfel, who was discovered by an Armstrong Cable installer Wednesday.

Ember’s father, 34-year-old Eric Warfel, of Medina, was charged with corpse abuse and held on a $1 million bond Thursday after the technician found her. Warfel told police he put bags of garbage in his daughter’s room to mask the smell.

Warfel and his ex-wife had lost another daughter whose death in March 2013 was ruled a “sudden unexplained infant death.”
