BOARDMAN, Ohio (WKBN) – With local schools starting in just a few weeks, teachers in Boardman are already getting ready.
Dozens of instructors from various schools in the district are volunteering their time this week to attend Boardman’s second annual Technology Conference at Boardman High School.
This year, teachers will be getting their own laptop computers and Information Technology Director Todd Smith urged them to find ways to integrate newer high-tech equipment into their daily lesson planning for students as opposed to only using it for special events.
“It is going to be secondary to ‘hey, we have a textbook, it sits on my desk.’ They don’t have to go anywhere to get that textbook, like right now, we have to go someplace to get the technology,” Smith said.
While Smith admits technology isn’t the best fit for all aspects of classroom education, he encouraged the teachers to find ways to incorporate computers and other devices into everyday lessons.
