SHARON, Pa. (WKBN) – Former standout athlete Deshawn Coleman was taken into custody after police said they found a pistol in his freezer.
Pennsylvania Probation and Parole Agents called Sharon police Monday afternoon after a search at Coleman’s house on Spearman Avenue. Agents found a stolen .40-caliber pistol in the freezer section of a small refrigerator, according to a Sharon police report.
Coleman was taken to the Mercer County Jail on a probation violation. So far, he is not facing any criminal charges.
He was arrested June 13, 2014, during a traffic stop in Farrell. Police said a clip from a handgun was seen sticking out from under the front driver’s seat. He was charged with a weapons violation and pleaded guilty in January to disorderly conduct. He was sentenced to up to one year in jail with the sentence suspended and was placed on probation.
Coleman had a very successful high school football career. He was Mercer County’s all-time leading rusher and Hickory’s all-time leading scorer.
