YOUNGSTOWN, Ohio (WKBN) – A cable TV show is in the valley filming an episode and some residents were hoping to be part of it on Tuesday night.
“Bar Rescue,” which airs on Spike TV, is at the Royal Oaks on Youngstown’s east side. On Tuesday, about 100 people lined up outside hoping to be one of the patrons on the show.
The show’s host will watch the bar’s staff and see just how they do under pressure. Later in the week, a new look will be unveiled for The Royal Oaks, which has sat in the same place on Oak Street since 1934.
“Bar Rescue” Host Jon Taffer was nowhere to be seen. The plan is to make over the Royal Oaks.
In fact, earlier on Tuesday, the director of the Mahoning Valley Historical Society, Bill Lawson, posted a picture with one of Bar Rescue’s producers, who was looking for old pictures to redo the Royal Oaks.
The folks who produce “Bar Rescue,” are not saying much about their visit at the Royal Oaks, so it is unknown when the episode from Youngstown will air.
“Bar Rescue” is a docu-reality series featuring veteran nightlife expert Jon Taffer as he seeks to revamp and rescue bars on the brink, according to the show’s website. Taffer and his dream team of industry experts understand the science behind a bar’s success and spare no details in their rescues, tackling everything from the perfect pour to the height of the bar stools.
