Body found in Warren wall identified

Thomas Pickens

WARREN, Ohio (WKBN) – A forensic anthropologist helped police identify the skeletal remains found in a vacant apartment on East Market Street in downtown Warren in March.

Trumbull County Coroner Dr. Humphrey Germaniuk said it is 60-year-old Thomas Pickens. He said Pickens was the victim of a homicide.

Pickens’ body was found on the second floor by crews demolishing the East Market Street building to make way for a parking lot for the Sunrise Inn. Warren detectives said they believe Pickens had been there for several years but was never reported missing.

Dr. Germaniuk would not comment on how Pickens was killed, but Warren police said they are investigating.

“We are dealing with skeletal remains. There is no flesh, some of the remains are missing due to rodent activity and just deterioration. There is enough there to say we are dealing with a homicide,” Germaniuk said.

Investigators are asking anyone with information to come forward.
