Sharon woman heading back to Pa. to face murder charges

Amy Emmett, suspect in Sharon, PA shooting.

YOUNGSTOWN, Ohio (WKBN) – The woman wanted for murder charges in Sharon will soon be back in Mercer County.

Amy Emmett, 46, was wheeled into a Mahoning County courtroom Thursday morning, where she waived an extradition hearing and told the judge she wanted to go back to Pennsylvania.

Authorities in Sharon have obtained murder warrants for Emmett in connection with last month’s fatal shooting of her own husband, William Emmett, in a parking lot of Sharon Regional Hospital, where he was employed. Police said William Emmett was planning to divorce his wife.

Late Wednesday, she was released from St. Elizabeth Health Center, where police said she was being treated for self-inflicted gunshot wounds, and transferred to the Mahoning County Jail.

Officials said she could have a hearing in Mercer County Court as early as Friday.
