Warren Kmart will remain open

WARREN, Ohio (WKBN) – Just one day after local media reported the Kmart on Parkman Road would be closing, the company has changed its plans and the store will remain open.

Sears Holdings Director of Corporate Communications Howard Riefs releases the following statement on Thursday via email:

There has been a change of plans and the Kmart store in Warren on Parkman Road will not be closing. We have worked with the landlord on amending our lease that will enable the Kmart store to remain open to the public and continue to employ our 68 associates. Kmart looks forward to continuing to serve the Warren area community at this location just as we have since 1980.

The store was supposed to close in mid-November, according to a release sent Wednesday, and a liquidation sale was to begin Aug. 30.
