Truck driver charged in fatal Austintown crash

Rahmatkarn Dhillon was arrested for aggrevated vehicular homicide causing a fatal crash on the Ohio Turnpike.

AUSTINTOWN, Ohio (WKBN) – Authorities have charged the driver of a semi-truck that crashed into a number of vehicles on the Ohio Turnpike July 31, killing one woman, with aggravated vehicular homicide, according to jail records.

Rahmatkarn Dhillon, 23, is charged with crashing into five vehicles in Austintown and killing Stacy Gardner, 44, of Massillon. Police said that Dhillon is from Canada and helped pull several people to safety while his truck was on fire.

The crash hurt three other passengers, who are expected to recover.
