Brief traffic stoppages planned for Route 11 in Canfield

Canfield construction

CANFIELD, Ohio (WKBN) – The Ohio Department of Transportation has said that traffic will be briefly stopped on State Route 11 in Canfield Thursday and Friday for road work.

According to ODOT, traffic on Route 11 southbound will be intermittently held up under US Route 224 in order to facilitate the installation of bridge beams.

The road work will be underway between 8:00 a.m. and 3:00 p.m. both days, and will stop traffic for a maximum of 15 minutes at a time.

Traffic delays will also be in place during the same hours next Monday and Tuesday on Route 11 northbound.

The delays are both part of a project to replace and widen the Route 224 bridge over Route 11.  The project also encompasses the widening of Raccoon Road at US 224 and the Route 11 southbound ramp to Route 224.

Raccoon Road was recently reopened on Monday; however, traffic along Route 224 over the Route 11 bridge continues to be reduced to one lane westbound as work continues on the widening of the bridge.

ODOT says the entire $6.5 million project is expected to be completed by October
