NORTH JACKSON, Ohio (WKBN) – The Mahoning County Coroner’s Office has identified the two people who died in a crash on Interstate 76 Tuesday night as Cyril and Marjorie Dean, both of Youngstown, according to a press release.

According to the release, both died instantly from head and neck injuries after a semi truck rear-ended their sedan.

Cyril was 78 and Marjorie, who was driving, was 69, the release states.

The coroner’s office is continuing their investigation into the crash.

Officials with the Ohio State Highway Patrol said the semi behind the Deans’ sedan may have failed to slow down as traffic was transitioning into a work zone.

Flames reached high into the air after the accident at around 8 p.m. Tuesday night. The interstate was closed for nearly six hours for the investigation and removal of debris and vehicles.
