fire damages home on north side of youngstown, ohio

YOUNGSTOWN, Ohio (WKBN) – Firefighters were able to quickly put out a fire at a home on Dearborn St. on the city’s northwest side, just off Gypsy lane, Thursday morning.

That fire started just after 8 a.m. Fire officials said an EMS crew in the area actually spotted the fire on the house’s back porch and called it in, so fire crews were able to get there quickly.

The fire spread up the back of the house and into the kitchen, bedroom, and attic. Firefighters said the property was a rental house and was being repaired for new tenants after a previous renter moved out last week.

Crews were able to start clearing the scene just before 10 a.m. Firefighters have not released details on the cause of the fire.
